Day 60: Ritzville, WA to Othello, WA-- Windy washington

Not much to write about for the ride— it was windy, hot, and hilly. A lot of us spent quite a bit of time looking off into the shoulders on the side for cool trash or license plates, but otherwise it was just us and the road. The total milage was under 60, but it took quite a while due to the 12mph headwinds and being battered by crosswinds— we finished the ride at around 2pm.

Meanwhile, those of us in the van were working on finding a stayover for tonight! We had a previous issue with correspondence from our hosts, and thought we might have to shuttle to a campground after the ride to set up a camp. After dozens of calls by Claire P. and Camden, Cam eventually found us motel rooms! We’re so grateful to be able to stay in real beds, have rooms, showers, and our own little kitchens.

After picking our rooms, we ran errands before doing a portrait and going to dinner, thanks to Willard’s aunt! Nearby, the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge offered great birdwatching and other wildlife, so some of us headed that direction for the sunset. Everyone is very excited to have a bed tonight, and I’m sure we’re all going to get some of the best sleep we’ve ever had.
