BIOGRAPHY
Thanks for visiting my fundraising profile! I'm currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in clinical/community psychology and Spanish. In the future, I hope to go to graduate school to become a school psychologist. On campus, I’m a research assistant in the Infant Cognition Lab, an active member of the Beta Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Fraternity, and a tutor at a bilingual elementary school in Champaign. I’m an adventurous spirit at heart—in the spring of 2016 I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and traveled all throughout Europe. Now, I’ll be traveling across my home country, and I’m proud to say that I’ll be doing it by bike!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Everyone is affected by cancer in some way. We’ve all seen the grief and hardships that face those who are impacted by cancer, but there is also so much hope and light that can come out of dark times. Personally, I will be riding to honor my younger cousin Alex who passed away from a brain tumor and my grandfather who I never met due to esophageal cancer. Through fundraising for this organization, our efforts will benefit those affected by cancer through funding research and patient support services. This is a great way to bring awareness to this horrible disease and the people who are affected by it. I’m excited to ride across America and collect the stories of cancer survivors and caretakers through The Portraits Project, and to visit our beneficiaries to see those that will benefit from the gift of your donations.
