BIOGRAPHY
Hi, I'm Dan, and I'm studying Actuarial Science with a minor in Informatics, and I am currently in my senior year! After graduation, I hope to become an insurance actuary. I was born and raised in Downers Grove, Illinois with my older brother Mitch and two wonderful parents, Amy and Dave. I attended the College of DuPage for my first year of college, and transferred to U of I in the Fall of 2014. I am actually a third generation Illini, following in the footsteps of my grandfather (Basil) and mother. I learned to love music starting at the age of 4 with piano lessons, eventually learning clarinet and the tenor saxophone, which I still play today in the Marching Illini. I also enjoy running, the outdoors, and dogs. I am extremely excited to be a part of the 2016 Bike America team!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Cancer is a disease that affects everyone, and I am no exception. I lost my paternal grandfather Bruce to pancreatic cancer in 2002, when I was only 7 years old, and many more friends and family have been affected since. Everyone has a story and a reason when it comes to this disease and how it plays a part in all of our lives. I believe these stories and experiences can help everyone through these extremely tough times that we all have gone through or will go through at some point or another, and that's what really inspired me to take part in Illini 4000 in the first place. By taking part in this fight and doing my best to help spread these stories, I hope to play a part in ending this disease for good.
