In just over 34 miles we went from Healdsburg to Petaluma and have a lot to do before tomorrow, so an early arrival was necessary! With little elevation gain we were able to speed through the short ride and roll up at around 10:30. After picking up some tires from the bike store (also necessary for Bang to be able to ride tomorrow without getting a flat!) we totally unloaded and cleaned the van so it’s ready to be re-packed with bikes.
We were gifted lunch from Ryan’s family (thank you!!) from a locally recommended restuarant, and headed out to Goodwill to start searching for outfits for our very own I4K prom! We got outfits for our dates, went back to the stayover, napped etc., and then headed out for prom dinner. Another host-recommended restaurant offered outdoor dining with live music, so we were able to do not-takeout thanks to Gibby’s family (thank you!!) We feel so supported on this final evening.
Prom had photoshoots and music, superlatives and awards, dancing and just having fun, all together one last time off the bike. It’s really late now and we’re getting up early tomorrow, but of course this is worth every moment and every memory. In under twelve hours we’ll be crossing the bridge and saying our goodbyes… but right now I think all we can focus on is getting sleep so we can ride to the bridge in the first place!
