We left camp this morning cold and damp, and the ride down the mountain left us absolutely speechless. Going up the mountain was pretty, and rewarding enough in itself. But the views we got while we descended for 20 miles? Incredible. Unbelievable. Amazing. This side of the Bighorns is almost unreal. And we got to go right down the middle!
After our big descent we had some hills for another 23 miles, and then it was nearly all flat until Thermopolis! Thermopolis is from the Greek for “Hot City,” and is named for its mineral hot springs that make the whole place smell like sulfur, or eggs! Thus, eggtown. We dried the tents, showered, had dinner, and did laundry. Not too much for today after leaving the mountains— I think everything exciting was packed into the morning! Tomorrow I’m driving the van, and we have a shorter trip to Rivertown.
