BIOGRAPHY

Hi! I'm Sofia, a senior studying Computer Science & Chemistry from the great state of Ohio. I enjoy knitting, cycling and won't miss an opportunity to talk ad nauseum about the most recent No Stupid Questions podcast episode. On campus, I'm also involved with the Illinois Triathlon Club and Precious Plastic, a group recycling 3D printing waste back into filament!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

All of my grandparents have struggled with cancer, which is unfortunately not an unusual story. I'm excited to do this ride to honor all of my grandparents. My maternal grandmother fought breast cancer before I was born and I've always known her as a proud breast cancer survivor. Her lingering scars and tough spirit molded my perception of the never ending cancer fight. As a part of the Illini 4000 team this summer, I'm honored to be able to listen to and share similar cancer stories to hers across America to help us all feel more connected and less alone in this fight.
