BIOGRAPHY
Hi all! My name is Cal Howley. I am originally from Hickory Hills, IL, and this is my second year studying in Champaign-Urbana at the Gies College of Business. Currently, my main interest rests in consulting work. I have always been drawn to limit-pushing projects like this, and Illini4k is offering an amazing way to step out of my comfort zone for a great cause. Fitness has always been something I have enjoyed, including training in karate to earn my blackbelt. When I am not studying on campus, you can find me adventuring to new cities with friends, playing the guitar, or hiking. My main background is as a runner, but I am excited to transition to becoming more of across-country biker over the next year.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am so excited to raise funds and awareness in such an impactful way with an amazing team. I am looking forward to meeting new people along the ride and helping their stories be told. I would like to dedicate this ride to my grandma Grace, who passed away from ovarian cancer before I was ever able to meet her. I would also like to dedicate this to my mom, who stayed inspiringly strong during this loss despite only being seventeen. My hope on this ride is to have her strength in being a positive force to those affected by this disease, as well as show the incredible feats that are possible when a team comes together to make an impact.
