BIOGRAPHY
Hi! My name is Liz Wyckoff and I'm a Junior this year at U of I. I'm from Western Springs, IL- a suburb to the west of Chicago. I'm studying MCB and Psychology with the hopes of going to medical school after I graduate. Eventually, I want to be a Neonatal Doctor. I'm really passionate about volunteering, which drew me to want to do I4K! I volunteer at the hospital here on campus and, this past year, I served as Philanthropy Chair for my sorority. Being able to do the ride seems like an amazing opportunity to get to give back to a cause that means a lot to me and continue with my passion for service! At school, I'm involved with the Pre-medical frat Phi Delta Epsilon, TIMMY Global Health and an organization called Operation Smile. I'm really looking forward to next semester, when I'll be studying abroad in Geneva, Switzerland! My hobbies include reading, traveling, making food with friends and hanging out with my collie, Annie. I can't wait to spend the summer on this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
My driving force for doing Illini 4000 is truly to try and make an impact on a disease that has affected my family so much. I have a history of Breast Cancer on both sides of my family, so I have really grown up being aware of the disease and the effects it can have. This past summer, I have watched my grandmother struggle with it for a second time, but have also seen the progress she has made due to the amazing advances that have been made. I would love to do something to make an impact in the efforts to fight cancer, as I've seen first hand what a horrible disease it can be, so Illini 4000 seemed like the perfect opportunity! I can't wait to connect with people across the country who have been through similar experiences.
