BIOGRAPHY
Hola! My name is Helen Mendez and I am currently studying Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience. I pretty much spend every day of the week in 2 research labs, focusing on Toxicology and Psychopharmacology in Neuroscience. When I'm not too busy being a nerd I love dancing and currently help lead a dance team on campus. With whatever free time I can get I love being in the outdoors, hiking/ canoeing, and pretty much up for any type of adventure. You only live once!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
It is an unfortunate reality that many will be affected by cancer in one way or another. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer and several family friends have been affected as well. While the cure for cancer still has ways to go, I am fortunate enough to be able to take this opportunity and actively be a part of this cause. Biking more than 4000 miles this summer will be a journey- it will be physically, emotionally, and psychologically challenging. I'm ready to push myself harder each day because I know that not only will I become stronger because of it, but also that every cent raised will directly impact cancer research and patient support services.
