BIOGRAPHY
Hey! I'm Nick Nodus, a junior here at the University of Illinois from Willowbrook, a western suburb of Chicago. I really enjoy traveling, going to concerts and music festivals, and doing anything outdoors including hiking, skiing, running, and bike riding, which is a good thing because I'll be riding my bike across the country this summer!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am lucky enough to not have been directly affected by cancer. My grandma passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was very young, but other than that, no one else in my immediate family has had to battle with cancer. That does not understate how serious this disease is though. Some of my friends have had family members pass away much too soon due to cancer and others have family members who are currently battling cancer. I have seen from them how much of a physical and personal toll cancer can take on those afflicted with it and their loved ones. It's something that nobody should have to go through. My hope is that by biking across the country this summer, I will be able to improve the lives of those affected by cancer, both by sharing stories of those battling cancer with others through the portraits project and by raising money to benefit charities who are dedicated to the fight against cancer.
