BIOGRAPHY
HI! <-- That describes me pretty well. Pretty excited about anything and energetic. My name is Joseph Lee and I am a senior in Molecular and Cellular Biology minoring in Chemistry. I am born and raised in Chicago. I have been part of the Illinois Rowing team, which has taught me a lot about teamwork and hard work. I take photos for the Daily Illini specializing in portraits and sports. I just completed my first Ironman 140.6 in Madison this fall. I love to travel and take landscape and portrait photography wherever I go. After college, I would love to go into Cancer research and would love to be based in Seattle. I'm excited for this opportunity to ride across America while raising money to end cancer.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
The fight against cancer means so much to millions of people. Not only talking about patients who have cancer, but to their family, friends, and the people around them. A close teammate and friend in high school went through a lot of hardship due to his mother dealing with cancer. Often absent from school and practice because he was next to his mother helping her and being with her. It was hard to see him struggle through this and have to give up so much, how much more was his mom giving up, I could never imagine. I want to be able to alleviate some of that pressure on the patients and the loving people around them. I want to be able to give children their childhoods whether it is them or their family members that have cancer. Everyone is effected by cancer, and I want to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
