BIOGRAPHY
Hello! My name is Haley and I am from Golf, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. I am a senior in animal sciences, graduating this spring. On campus, I am a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and the Illinois Sailing Team. I recently returned from studying abroad last semester in Copenhagen which was amazing. I love to travel and always looking to where I can go next. Some of my hobbies are cooking, horse-back riding, watching Netflix, eating sushi, and spending time with my roommates. I am attending the University of Florida next year for a Masters in Health Sciences One Health concentration. With this degree I hope to pursue studies relating to infectious diseases. I can't wait to start biking this summer, and am excited for what the future may hold for me!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Cancer has unfortunately affected my family members’ lives tremendously. I have close family members who have defeated cancer and members who have sadly lost the battle. I am riding this summer to honor the memory of my grandfather who was an extraordinary man and deserves to be honored in an extraordinary way . By participating in the Illini4000 I hope to raise cancer awareness and contribute to the cause to stop this terrible disease from taking the lives of so many. Cancer is a cruel and unforgiving disease, that I believe can be hopefully, eliminated in the near future only if we continue to act today.
