BIOGRAPHY
I am Arthur Tseng, and I'm a freshman studying Civil Engineering here at the "U of I" (such a cool abbreviation). I was born in Seattle, but I was brought up in Hong Kong. HK is a crazy multicultural metropolitan city which somehow was stuffed with more than 7 million people. Two years ago I escaped this ultra modern city and went to a rural part of India to study in a school of 200 people from more than 50 nations. Living, learning and travelling with my friends there made it one of the most unforgettable experience of my life. It also taught me to hold on to every opportunity to do something fun. That's why I couldn't wait to experience this country in the best way possible, cycling across it! (Hopefully this trip will not completely obliterate my legs)
PERSONAL STATEMENT
My grandfather was one of the friendliest person ever, he treated everyone special and always made us feel comfortable at his house. He loved his family dearly and we loved him back equally. Unfortunately in a matter of weeks, cancer took him away from us. It's unfair that some people, as nice a human as they are, have to endure this terrible disease. Everyone deserve to live their lives fully and experience as much as he or she can. However, cancer takes that opportunity away from a lot of us. Through better research and doing our part in supporting it, perhaps one day we might be able to eradicate cancer, and provide every person in the world with an equal opportunity to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
