BIOGRAPHY
I'm Kara O'Herron and I am a senior studying Chemistry and Spanish with plans to go on to Pharmacy school this fall. I grew up in the small town of Kingston, IL and spent most of my time outdoors. I have always loved sports and have played soccer my entire life along with running cross country. I have continued this in college by running half and full marathons, as well as coaching and playing soccer. I am a really adventurous person and love to travel. I studied abroad in Spain and definitely plan to see the rest of the world during my life! I am very excited about this bike ride and think it will be a great way to end my time in college. It is a great opportunity to see the country in a unique way while at the same time supporting a very important cause!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Cancer is unfortunately something can happen to anyone at anytime and we have all been affected by it in some way. This fact was made real to me when both my mom and grandpa were diagnosed with cancer. Watching them fight it made me believe that there have to be more effective and less painful treatments for the disease and that is why I want to do what I can to help with the fight against cancer. Even though we may not all be capable of doing the research to find a cure or understand more about cancer, there are so many other ways to get involved in the fight. I believe that this bike ride is a great way to do my part and make a difference even if it is only a small one.
