BIOGRAPHY

Hi there, my name is Paul Leman and I'm a senior studying mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was born in central Illinois but grew up in southeast Ontario, Canada before moving back to the area at the age of 13. Outside of my studies, I enjoy hunting, trapping, taxidermy, backpacking, cycling, and playing the piano. I am a devoted follower of Jesus, and am heavily involved with my local youth group, for which I am currently serving as the treasurer. I am extremely excited to be a part of this year's I4K team and to make a difference in the world of cancer care and research!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

It has always been a dream of mine to bike across the United States, but I never thought I would actually get the chance to make it happen. When I found out about I4K, I realized it was the perfect opportunity to make my dream come true while also making a difference in the lives of all those who have been and will be affected by cancer, whether directly or through a friend or family member. I have had several family members and friends who have been diagnosed with cancer, so this issue is a personal one for me, as it is for all too many people. I believe in doing everything I can to make this world a better place, and this is a really cool avenue for me to do just that!
