BIOGRAPHY
Hi everyone!
I’m Max, a second years master’s student in civil engineering at the University of Illinois. I started college on the west coast at Pomona College, where I played football and studied physics, before transferring to UIUC. I grew up in Aurora, IL but my family has since called Gilroy, CA and Dripping Springs, TX home. With my master’s, my research focuses on railroad infrastructure and I look forward to using that knowledge after I graduate. I’ve been involved with Illini 4000 for over a year now so I can’t wait to complete the ride next summer!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Because of cancer I never got to meet my mom’s mom. I am completing this journey in her memory. As I spread the word about this cause, I realize everyone knows someone who’s been affected by cancer. I’m looking forward to documenting some of these stories during the ride with the Portraits Project. Our efforts are a small price to pay compared to what cancer patients go through, and I hope to be a part of the solution in any way I can! Thank you for allowing me to raise awareness and make a difference by helping me meet my fundraising goal!
