BIOGRAPHY
Hi! My name is Rahul Ramkumar, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Illinois. I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and I also plan on getting a minor or dual degree in Political Science— I’m interested in the environmental and policy applications of engineering, and I hope to further explore those fields after college. I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but now live in the north suburbs of Chicago. I enjoy reading, photography, all things space-related, and biking (of course). I’m excited to be a part of the 2021 Illini 4000 team and to make a difference in the fight against cancer!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Cancer is a universal experience— you would be hard-pressed to find someone who does not have a personal story, in some form or other, about cancer. Each and every one of those stories deserves to be heard, and I hope that by being a part of the Illini 4000 team I can help share and amplify these stories.
Cancer is, unfortunately, nowhere near being eliminated. Until that day, it is up to us to keep fighting and to ensure that those affected receive the support and compassion they need. By committing to support cancer research, raise awareness, and further the Portraits Project, I hope to make a meaningful impact, and to help lessen the burden of cancer for those who will face it in the future. Thank you for your support!
