BIOGRAPHY

Hey everyone!! My name is Maggie Piazzi and I am currently a sophomore at U of I. I am from Libertyville, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago. I am the youngest of three siblings. Some things I love are sports, my family, music, and most importantly… peanut butter. In my free time, I love playing games with my family, hanging with my friends, and procrastinating by spending endless hours on Spotify. I am a very active person and love anything and everything related to the outdoors. Some of my favorite things to do outside are hiking, paddle boarding, and snowboarding.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Three years ago, my dad was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). This past February, he received a dual liver-kidney transplant. It’s the absolute best feeling to know that one of the most important people in my life is healthy again. Not only am I riding in honor of my dad, but for the rest of my family that has had cancer and is currently fighting it to this day. Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Being a rider for the Illini 4000 gives me a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel from state to state, raising awareness for a disease that can and will be stopped.
