BIOGRAPHY

Hey there! My name is Kathy Powell and I am from Homer Glen, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I am currently a senior at the University of Illinois studying Graphic Design with hopes of moving to New York City after this ride. As a lover of the outdoors, I enjoy spending my spare time hiking and traveling. Although I am grateful to have spent the past two summers working for exceptional corporations and pursuing my dreams, I am excited to take this summer off and join the fight against cancer. I cannot express how excited I am to be a part of this team. Have a fantastic day!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

It’s scary to think how something as microscopic as a cancer cell can forever alter the lives of countless people. No matter where you live, how old you are, or any other factor that differentiates us, cancer affects every one of us in one way or another. Growing up, I was exposed to many instances of cancer in the lives of those closest to me, and it never got any easier to accept. This summer, I will be riding for my family members that have lost their battle with cancer. Witnessing the difficult hardships of cancer within my own family will be my driving force as I know that whatever I experience during this ride will pale in comparison to what they have endured. I currently do not own a bike nor have I ridden more than 15 miles consecutively. To be honest, I am terrified...but it is the immense courage of the people that are fighting cancer every day that will be my inspiration day in and day out during this incredible journey. I am asking for your support as I take on this amazing challenge. Please consider making a donation to this awesome cause. Thank you in advance for your support!
