BIOGRAPHY

My name is Colin Tainter. I am currently a freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying undecided studies a.k.a undeclared. However, at the end of this year I plan to apply to the Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences colleges to study either Economics or Finance. I come from a Northwest suburb of Chicago, Palatine where I have two loving parents and sisters, although one of them also studies Education here, and without their help I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today. Aside from wanting to put an end to cancer one of my favorite things to do is ride a bike. During my junior year of high school I began cycling and watching cycling as well. This quickly became my favorite sport, so when I heard that there was a club that raised money for cancer and cycled across the country I jumped at the opportunity. I am so excited for this years ride and can’t wait to see the positive impact the money and awareness we raise will have on those suffering from cancer.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Thankfully no one in my nuclear family has been affected by cancer, but my Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago. She was able to beat this horrendous disease and has been cancer free for a long time. While I am very close with my Grandma, I don’t want to only ride for one person. I want to represent everyone who has or is struggling with this disease through the money and awareness that I raise as a rider. Specifically, I would like to dedicate this ride to all of the families with children suffering through cancer because I believe every child deserves to have the chance to grow up. In the future, I see a community of hope and support for all people struggling with cancer and want to start the change that I seek through this year’s ride.
