BIOGRAPHY

Hi all! I’m Catherine and I’m from Glenview. I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology. I have a small family and unfortunately have no siblings but I have a dog that antagonizes me as if we were siblings. My favorite things to do are meet great new people, volunteer, read, and explore nature. I love to learn about social justice and do my best to make a change for the better. I LOVE to travel and am always down for adventures, especially adventures for a cause! I am Education Chair for Alternative Seasonal Breaks and on the Board of Governors and Student Board at the University YMCA. I am also an active member of Alpha Epsilon Phi and involved in Amnesty International. That’s all about me!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Cancer will inevitably effect everyone at some point. The main reason that I wanted to be involved with Illini 4000 was because the Portraits Project aims to connect all those who have been effected by cancer to create a Portrait of Cancer Across America. By encouraging people to tell their stories, they can process and heal. Listening to someone can be one of the most validating and empowering things you can do for someone, and I feel grateful to have the opportunity to hear the stories of such courageous and strong survivors and caretakers.
