I was born in Bielsko-Biala, Poland but have spent most of my life living in Chicago. I'm currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Despite the countless hours spent doing homework and writing lab reports, I love what I study and hope to put it to good use after graduation. After an unforgettable summer studying abroad at H.I.T. in Hiroshima, Japan, I've also been pursuing an international minor in engineering, focusing on Japanese studies. When not immersed in engineering, you can find me with a good cup of tea, listening to music or reading a good book. I also love photography and ultimate frisbee. And, as long as it's not snowing (and sometimes even when it is), you'll see me biking just about everywhere.

Personal Statement

I ride this summer as proof that there is no problem too big to solve, that nothing is beyond our reach. With every mile, we are a tiny bit closer to a cure for cancer, and every bit counts. Those that have been affected by cancer, that have fought the disease with unwavering resolve or struggled with the loss of their loved ones, these people are the true heroes. Their strength far surpasses the strength required to bike 4000 miles, and it is for these countless people affected by cancer that I ride this summer. I hope to pass on their stories, inspire others to join in the fight, and remind them that they are never alone in the fight against cancer.
