Excerpt from the Chicago Tribune Dec. 31, 2006'
About 25 University of Illinois students will trade their summer break for charity next year, bicycling 4,000 miles from New York City to San Diego to raise money for cancer research. Organizers say members of a new student group called Illini 4,000 will ride 75 to 100 miles a day from the end of May until they roll into Southern California in August. The group, which hopes to raise $100,000, has been meeting throughout the fall to plan the ride and recruit students and sponsors.'
