Stefany Veldhuizen Director of Portraits Project,

Stefany Veldhuizen was a member of the 2017 Bike America Team and is currently serving as the Director of the Portraits Project. Listening to people share their experiences with cancer throughout my involvement with Illini 4000 has really sparked my interest in doing my part in the fight against cancer. The Portraits Project Committee and I are responsible for creating the platform for which we document the American cancer experience. This includes training the Bike America Teams on how to effectively conduct recorded interviews with cancer survivors, caregivers, current patients and anyone else with a story to tell. We work to edit this content into print and short videos to be shared throughout the cancer community in effort to develop a network and demonstrate that we are all in this fight together.

Mike Rotter Director of Fundraising,

Mike has been a part of Illini 4000 since 2017 and he rode as part of the 2018 team. While the ride across the nation was an incredibly meaningful experience, the donations we receive help fund groundbreaking research and necessary support services and so Mike has taken a special interest in this aspect of the organization. He is now our director of fundraising and works to set up fundraisers on campus and help the 2019 team members each accumulate $4,000 in donations this year. Mike is currently a sophomore studying Special Education.
