Board of Directors

The Illini 4000 for Cancer is managed by the Board of Directors. Their mission is to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization and develop a strategic vision which will ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization.

Board of Directors

Steven Sabatini President,

Steven joined Illini 4000 in 2015, his freshman year, and was a member of the 2016 team. Steven took over as President after a few months of training under the last president. As president, he oversees the board’s various responsibilities to ensure that their activities are aligned with the organization’s mission and founding principles. Steven is currently a junior majoring in Agricultural and Consumer Economics.

Catherine Schmid Vice President, 

Catherine joined Illini 4000 her sophomore year and rode across the country with the 2016 team. After the ride, she wanted to stay connected to Illini 4000′s mission and served as the Director of Logistics, working with the Logistics Committee to create and optimize the route as well as co-ordinate stayovers and ride events to make sure the 2017 team has the best experience from coast to coast. Catherine is honored to serve as Vice President this year and is excited to help lead the organization’s efforts to train and prepare riders throughout the school year.

Maren Wiltshire Treasurer,

Maren joined the Illini 4000 as a rider her sophomore year and rode in summer of 2016. Now, as treasurer, she handles the Illini 4000’s finances and ensures our fiscal compliance with the University of Illinois as well as both State and Federal laws. Maren is currently a Senior pursuing a degree in Accounting and can’t wait to get involved with the 2018 team!

Collin Mckeough Director of Logistics,

Collin McKeough joined the Illini 4000 team during his sophomore year as an officer on the Logistics Committee and rode across the country with the 2017 Bike America Team. He now serves as the organization’s Director of Logistics where he is responsible for leading the Logistics Committee. Together they work to create the optimal route for future Illini 4000 teams. Collin and his team work to plan a safe and fun route for riders, communicate with stay-overs that will host the team during the ride, and coordinate ride events in order to carry out Illini 4000’s mission. Collin is currently a junior majoring in accounting and management.

Alia Alsikafi Director of Marketing,

Alia joined Illini 4000 as a freshman and rode across America in 2017. She quickly developed a passion for the organization, and decided to continue after the ride as Director of Marketing, promoting the organization on and off campus as well as during the ride. She works with the media, donors, and riders to spread the word about Illini 4000’s mission. Alia is currently studying psychology.

Shutian Xu Director of Information,

Shutian joined the Illini 4000 as a freshman and rode across America in 2015. She joined the Portraits Project Committee after the ride shortly before her studying abroad in Australia. She currently serves as the Director of Information and is responsible for the website efforts of the Illini 4000 and facilitating effective internal documentation and communication among directors. Shutian is a senior with dual degrees in Industrial Engineering and Psychology, and a minor in Computer Science.

Mofei Wang Director of Portraits Project,

Mofei Wang Joined the Illini 4000 her freshman year, and rode with the team in 2016. Since the ride, she has been deeply motivated and involved with the Portraits Project. As the director, she aims to create more awareness and foster a stronger community of support between survivors, caretakers and all of those who have been effected by cancer. Mofei is currently studying in Applied Mathematics.
